It was a "fearful" thing to watch Jesus pray. It was an awesome event.....higher than any other thing He did! "After He was finished".....no one dared touch that "ark"! When He was on His knee's crying out to His Father.....it was like "no" other thing anyone has seen on the face of the earth! "Teach us to pray".....never did they say teach us to preach. A disciple never came to Jesus and asked Him to teach them to walk on water.....raise the dead...or cast out demons. I believe without a doubt the greatest demonstration of Divine power was seen.....not when Jesus Christ raised the dead or walked on water...but when He prayed! And I believe that when the disciples saw Jesus pray....they could not believe their eyes or even what their ears were telling them. Jesus was a Man of prayer! When "we" pray is it form or intellect? Do others hear a man or woman who spend much time in the presence of God? You can't fake prayer. Prayer was so important to the incarnate Son of the living God...so how important should prayer be to us? Luke 5:16, "........slipped away into the wilderness and prayed.....". Why? Because He loved the Father. He is a Person to be loved! This is a sermon worth listening to. I remember a sermon on prayer by Paul Washer…he said:

I noticed on his article on prayer there were a ton of responses - some in full agreement and others pretty much tearing apart his article. I just found it to be concise and maybe a little edgy but an article that does cause us to really think and do as you have done and dig into Scripture to see what God says about the glorious gift of prayer in Christ. Most importantly let us never, ever forget that it is only through Christ and His glorious work on the cross that we may approach God's throne in prayer knowing that we are covered in His perfect righteousness and that God's wrath on us has been propitiated in His Son! He had been heard on the first day, but the answer, and what an answer, came 3 weeks later. It appears that Daniel had not heard from God in those weeks, but he believed God and continued faithfully in prayer. Also, in Joshua 10, Joshua spoke to the Lord and asked for the sun and moon to stand still, which did happen. He might not have heard God, but he indeed did see his prayer answered. I think Peretti's books are based on Daniel 10. They seem to be, but also seems to be exaggerated in so many ways.
