Todd Bentley - as False as they Come

Apostasy & Heresy   Add comments

I have intentionally wanted to ignore Todd Bentley, self-proclaimed revivalist in Florida, hoping that he would soon go away.  I usually do not like to blog about people like this. There is no doubt that anyone claiming to be of God who speaks to angels and then tells the audience that they must believe in the angel is a false prophet.  We are to believe in Jesus Christ - not an angel.  Todd’s “angel dialogue” is just one of many real problems with this man’s “ministry”.

My friends we are in a time in America where there is so much of a need for discernment.  We live in a time where pastors in other countries are being arrested for preaching the gospel and pastors in America are being arrested for child abuse, drugs and sexual offenses.  Our American Christianity is so watered down that it is no wonder thousands and thousands flock to people like Todd Bentley and genuinely believe he is from God.  Where is the Gospel?  Where is Christ preached?  It is clear in Scripture that when one is filled with the Holy Spirit Christ is proclaimed and glorified.

I was over at Slice of Laodicea this morning and saw a video that caused me to write this post.  It’s a video of Todd Bentley kicking a man with stage 4 colon cancer in the stomach to be “healed”.  That’s right - Todd physically kicked the man so hard he fell to the floor and Todd then told the man that God told him to do it.  This isn’t the first time Todd has proudly announced to his audience that he has kicked people.  He told his audience not too long ago that he kicked an elderly woman in the face because God told him to.

To see the video for yourself head on over to Slice and be dismayed.

My friends… pray!  Pray for Todd Bentley that he will be convicted and that the Lord would bring him to repentance.  Pray for the thousands that have been led into his false teachings.  Pray for discernment!  Maranatha!

Todd Bentley is deceiving so many people. We have people in our own church who think this man is of God. His way of doing things such as kicking people, really makes you wonder what kind of background he has. No where in Scripture do we see this kind of “Christian” behavior. Isn’t it amazing that so many so called christians do not see a problem with this?

Hi Brian. I think it just simply shows the lack of discernment that is so saturating the American church. Our churches are more concerned with the numbers, with pragmatic approaches and with watering down the gospel as to not “offend” that we are seeing more and more false conversion with no ability to discern. And those who truly are Christians are not getting fed the Word, nor are they getting out the forks and knives to dig into, meditate on, memorize and study God’s Word. They would rather have God’s Word fed to them on a spoon for 20 minutes once a week. This is sadly the state of most of the American church today. That is why I commend so many of the pastors (and I would definitely include you in that list my brother) who stay true to God’s Word, preach expositionally and are bold in the proclamation of the true Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Soli Deo Gloria!

Jesus bless you for bringing truth and wisdom forward.
One good thing has come out of this false prophet….
The other false prophets who have aligned themselves with the same false teachings - are now exposed.
Bill Johnson, Bobby Connor, Bob Jones, Rick Joyner, Patricia King and others (the Elijah list).

I too am shocked at the thousands who have fallen for this lepreconartist. Where are people’s heads? Certainly not in the Bible.
Even with proof after proof, people choose to be deceived. Ouch! But when Assemblies of God stands against Bentley, (see video on their website), do you think people will finally wake up? Sigh. I pray so.
Jesus is God! All Glory to Him! I love the Word!

Kundalini spirits have taken over Todd….he is not of God but controlled by other spirits. Yes, we indeed need to pray…not only for him but for those who were touched by this man emotionally and physically. The spirits of deceiving demons are among us, but OUR GOD IS GREATER! AMEN!

A guy like Bentley, at least to me, is not as dangerous as “the many” preacher’s that Jay has described. To reduce the Gospel down to a human decision that only takes a couple minutes has given millions of Americans a false hope. It is sad for anybody to go out into eternity without hope, but for a person to “say the prayer” and have a preacher pronounce them saved…. only to hear those words, “depart from Me”, is the ultimate tradgedy!! It’s sad.
